Itinerary
On arrival, you will be met by AMT staff member at Islamabad International Airport and transferred to hotel. You will meet your guide in the afternoon at the hotel for a trip briefing and gear check.
Catch an early morning flight to Skardu (55 minutes), the largest city in Baltistan. If weather is clear, incredible views of Nanga Parbat and other peaks. Free time to rest and explore the city. Finalize trekking permits and have dinner with the group. Alternative: If unable to fly, drive overland to Skardu (20-22 hours) with overnight in Chilas.
AMT team busy food shopping and packing group supplies. Guests have free time in morning and early afternoon. Late afternoon visit to Kharpocho Fort (optional). Group dinner before setting off in the morning.
Adventure begins! Load up 4×4 jeeps and begin dusty road journey past Askoli to Jhula camp - gateway to Central Karakoram National Park. Journey takes 9-10 hours depending on road conditions. Arrive late afternoon at permanent trekkers camp at Jhula.
Trek start to Paju (3,383m) at 06:30-07:00am, approximately 6-7 hours. Mostly flat with small gains and descents. Day is hot, exposed to sun and dusty. Sunscreen and water bottles essential! May be treated to Balti music session from porters after dinner. Cold showers available.
8-9 hours hiking. After one hour, enter onto Baltoro Glacier. Hiking along mighty Baltoro until Concordia. 2-3 hours first glacier trails to lunch point (Leligo), then 3-4 hours to Khubursay. Terrain is hilly, rocky, uneven. Camp can feel cramped but beautiful waterfall nearby.
Easy hike, start 08:00am. Cross couple icy side glaciers, first sight of Broad Peak and Gasherbrum. Historical campsite on grassy slope high above Baltoro with intense mountain views. 5 kilometers (4 hours). Spectacular campsite with excellent views of Trango Towers, Muztagh Tower, Lobsang.
Rest day. Wash up, relax, read, climb rocky stone to beautiful greenery pasture behind camp, sing and dance with porters! Goat may be sacrificed and meat distributed to porters as thanksgiving and for good luck on next day's Baltoro walk.
Start 07:30am, 5-8 hours moderate difficulty up and down glacier terrain. Starting to feel altitude. Lunch stop at Goro 1. Temperatures can drop below zero at night. Spectacular views of Masherbrum, Gasherbrum IV, and summit of Broad Peak from outside tent.
Reach 'Throne Room of the Gods' Concordia. 5-7 hours pleasant trekking over glacier with more ice. Special day with first views of K2! World's most spectacular camps surrounded by stunning peaks. Amazing views of Gasherbrum IV, Mitre Peak, Broad Peak, Marble Peak, Baltoro Gangree and K2.

Trip participants need to be in good shape and capable of trekking over mixed terrain for long distances (maximum 5-8 hours). On average our trekking days are 5 to 8 hours per day. We employ many local porters and mules to help carry supplies.
Breakfast includes omelet/fried eggs, fried Pakistani bread (paratha), chai/coffee. Lunch includes local bread, noodle soup, tinned fish, biscuits, crackers, cheese, green tea. Dinner includes vegetables, rice, noodle dishes, daal, meat (mutton or chicken) served by experienced cook.
This is a hard trek at very high altitude. The maximum elevations are K2 base camp: 5,130 meters, GondogoroLa: 5,585 meters. Humans can acclimatize to high elevations with our well-planned itinerary.
