Itinerary
City tour of the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Half day city tour of Islamabad. Overnight at a hotel or guest house. Rawalpindi tour includes Old bazaars like Raja Bazaar with oriental character and traditional artisans.
Ten hours driving along the Karakoram Highway. Stop at ancient rock carvings close to Chilas dating back to 5000-1000 BC left by travelers, pilgrims, and traders on their way to Sub-continent and Central Asia.
Journey on Karakorum Highway to Gilgit witnessing Nanga Parbat and junction of Three Mountain Ranges. Visit Gilgit bazaar then drive to Naltar. Hidden in mountains up dramatic gorge, surprisingly green Naltar at 2880m with spectacular views.
6 hours trek starting from 7 color Kutu Lake through thick forest and Gujar settlements along Naltar River. Views of snow-capped peaks including Shani Peak 5,887m and dramatic Twins 5,798m. Camp at Lower Shani 3,800m in lush area with flowers.
5-6 hours along Shani Glacier edge then ascending through knee-deep flowers up grassy shoulder. Arrive at big plateau with grazing yaks, cows and horses. Camp at 4,100m with great views of overhanging seracs.
6-8 hours climb to pass with mind-blowing views northeast over Passu in Hunza. Descend on glacier then moraine to Kuriu Borth at 3,900m near big red stone. Continue to UCh with lush meadows in thick forest.
Five hours descending through trees then clear donkey path down narrow winding gorge with waterfalls. Pakhora is largest village in Ishkoman. Drive to Chatorkhan for hotel stay, hot shower and traditional dinner.
Two hour walk to Dain Water Fall above village to interact with local mountain communities. Dramatic views of both Hindukush and Karakoram mountains from waterfall. Optional hiking and trekking in surrounding valleys.
Drive to Asumbar then 5-6 hours ascending trek through summer villages. Heart-touching stream flows alongside through thick forest with stunning views of peaks and meadows. Camp at Charunji 3,600m.
Trek along streams and vistas passing Gujar Nomads' huts at Bortha Borthi with large stone. Arrive at Janali, beautiful green flatland meaning 'playground' where shepherds once played polo. Alpine region above tree line with colorful rock formations.
