Itinerary
Arrive in Islamabad and transfer to your guesthouse. Rest and prepare for the expedition ahead."
Depart Islamabad and travel by road to Chitral through sweeping mountain scenery and winding valleys. Arrive in Chitral by evening and check in for the night.
Drive from Chitral into the Barum Gol valley, a remote side valley of the Hindu Kush, reaching the village of Oveer. The road narrows and the mountains close in as you push deeper into Tirich Mir territory.
Drive to Shabroze, the last village on the route, and begin trekking. Spend the day acclimatising to the altitude, exploring the surrounding terrain, and settling into Summer Camp for the night. Take it easy — the days ahead demand it.
Trek from Summer Camp up to Base Camp-I, navigating glacial terrain with Tirich Mir commanding the skyline ahead. Explore the nearby glaciers and spend the night at Base Camp-I under one of the most dramatic mountain views in the Hindu Kush.
Push on to Base Camp-II — the high point of the expedition — for panoramic views of Tirich Mir and the surrounding Hindu Kush peaks. Descend back to Shabronz or the guesthouse at Baurn Village for the night.
Drive back from the Barum Gol valley to Chitral, retracing the mountain road out of the Hindu Kush. Rest and recover in Chitral.
Spend the day in the Kalash Valley, exploring the villages, culture, and traditions of one of Pakistan's most ancient indigenous communities. A vivid contrast to the high-altitude wilderness of the days before.
Depart Chitral and make the return journey to Islamabad through the mountain roads of northern Pakistan.
A flexible backup day built in for any weather or road delays on the route. If the expedition has gone to schedule, use the day to explore Islamabad before your departure.
