Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Islamabad

Touch down in Pakistan's capital. Your guide meets you at the airport, transfers you to your hotel and gives you the evening to settle in. Overnight stay in Islamabad.

Day 2Islamabad to Besham / Naran

A scenic drive north as the city gives way to forested valleys and the first glimpses of the Karakoram Highway. Brief stops en route. Arrive in Besham or Naran by evening. Overnight stay.

Day 3Besham / Naran to Gilgit

Early morning departure deeper into the mountains. The KKH traces the Indus River through dramatic gorges with scenic stops along the way. Arrive in Gilgit by evening — the crossroads of three great mountain ranges. Overnight stay in Gilgit.

Day 4Gilgit to Central Hunza

Drive into Hunza Valley with the first views of Rakaposhi commanding the skyline. Visit the 900-year-old Altit Fort and the royal Baltit Fort, both with entry included. Explore Karimabad Bazaar and end the day at Eagle's Nest for a sunset that stretches across the entire Hunza and Nagar valleys. Overnight stay in Hunza.

Day 5Upper Hunza and Attabad Lake

Head up to Upper Hunza for a day of dramatic scenery. Cruise across the vivid turquoise waters of Attabad Lake, walk the swaying Hussaini Suspension Bridge and stand below the jagged spires of Passu Cones. Stop at Borith Lake and the traditional Khyber Village before returning to Hunza. Overnight stay in Hunza.

Day 6Hopper Valley

A quieter day exploring one of Hunza's lesser-visited valleys. Hopper Valley sits beneath the Hopper and Bualtar glaciers, offering raw glacier scenery and the chance to walk right up to the ice. Spend the afternoon at your own pace and return to the hotel by evening. Overnight stay in Hunza.

Day 7Hunza to Skardu via Kachura Lakes

A long and rewarding drive south along the Skardu Road with stops at the Rakaposhi Viewpoint and Astak Nala gorge. Arrive at Kachura for a visit to the famous lakes with optional boating on the water. Continue into Skardu city for overnight stay.

Day 8Shigar Valley, Manthokha Waterfall and Sarfaranga Cold Desert

Begin at Manthokha Waterfall, a towering cascade tucked into Kharmang Valley. Move on to the ancient Shigar Fort, a 600-year-old royal residence now restored as a heritage landmark. End the day at Sarfaranga Cold Desert where optional activities including quad biking, jeep safari and horse riding are available. Overnight stay in Skardu.

Day 9Basho Meadows or Deosai National Park

Board a 4x4 jeep for a full day into either Basho Meadows — a lush hidden valley with the dramatic Chocolate Mountains — or Deosai National Park, one of the world's highest plateaus and home to the Himalayan brown bear (seasonal access). Overnight stay in Skardu.

Day 10Khaplu Valley Day Trip

A full day excursion east to Khaplu Valley, one of Skardu's most rewarding detours. Stop at Ghwari Farm for views of the valley and visit the 700-year-old Chaqchan Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in Pakistan. Spend leisure time in the valley before returning to Skardu by evening. Overnight stay in Skardu.
