Getting your visa for Pakistan is now a completely digital process. For most travelers from Tier 1 countries, the application is straightforward and usually processed within 48 hours. Here is how the system works and what you need to prepare.
The E-Visa system
Pakistan offers an online visa system that allows you to apply from anywhere in the world. You do not need to visit an embassy or mail your passport. Once approved, you receive an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) via email which you print and carry with you to the airport.
What you need to apply
Before starting your application on the official government portal, make sure you have the following documents ready in digital format.
Passport: A clear scan of your passport biodata page. Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates.
Photograph: A recent digital passport-sized photo with a white background.
Booking Confirmation: A proof of your travel arrangements.
Letter of Invitation (LOI): For most tourist visas, you need an official Letter of Invitation from a registered tour operator in Pakistan.
Getting your LOI from Kipgo
When you book a tour or trek through Kipgo, the process of getting your Letter of Invitation is simplified. Since all tour operators on our platform are verified and registered, they can provide the necessary documentation for your visa application.
Once your booking is confirmed, you can message your operator directly through the chat to request your LOI. They will generate the document with their license details and your booking information and send it to you as a file in the chat. You can then download this and upload it as part of your visa application.
Application steps
The process follows a few simple steps.
Account Creation: Register an account on the Pakistan Online Visa System.
Form Completion: Fill in your personal details, travel dates, and the regions you plan to visit.
Document Upload: Attach your passport scan, photo, and the LOI provided by your tour operator.
Fee Payment: Pay the visa fee using a credit or debit card. The fee varies depending on your nationality.
Processing times
While many applications are processed within 48 hours, we recommend applying at least 10 to 14 days before your trip. This accounts for any administrative delays or public holidays. Once the visa is granted, it is typically valid for 90 days from the date of issuance.
Visa and cancellations
While it is unlikely for a visa to be rejected if your documents are in order, we understand that travelers need a backup plan. If your visa is not processed, you can cancel your booking directly from your booking page.
The refund you receive is governed by the specific cancellation policy of the tour or trek you booked. These policies are set by the tour operator and are based on how far in advance you cancel. We recommend reviewing the cancellation policy before you book to ensure you are comfortable with the timelines.
In the rare event that your visa is refused or remains unprocessed due to an error or incompetence on the part of the visa office, Kipgo may offer a full refund regardless of the standard policy. If this happens, reach out to our support team with proof of the visa issue so we can review your case and assist with the refund process.
Entering Pakistan
When you arrive at the airport in Pakistan, you will present your passport along with the printed ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) you received via email. The immigration officer will then stamp your passport for entry.
Make sure to keep a copy of your ETA and your Kipgo booking PDF on your phone throughout your trip.
